In this class, students explore powerful fiction while using the Hero’s Journey as a guide to track how characters are pushed, tested, and changed. We’ll hunt for lines that stop us in our tracks, scenes we can vividly picture, and moments that make us argue, question, and rethink our own perspectives. Expect round table discussions, bold opinions, real connections to life, and the kind of moral debates that don’t end when class is over.

Persuasive Speech & Debate
This class introduces students to the foundations of classical rhetoric - the art of persuasive speaking taught for centuries while building skills they will use in school and beyond. Students learn how to form clear arguments, support ideas with evidence, and speak with confidence and composure. Using time-tested rhetorical principles such as logic, credibility, and emotional appeal, students practice structured speeches and guided debates that strengthen critical thinking, respectful disagreement, and clear communication. The goal is not just winning arguments, but learning how to think well, speak clearly, and engage thoughtfully with others.
