Join our vibrant literature class where students don't just read - they engage, analyze, and sometimes debate! Through the Socratic seminar model, your child will develop critical thinking skills by discussing quality fiction in a lively, interactive setting.Go beyond plot summaries and “fill in the blank” worksheets with spirited conversations and original insights.
Watch your child become passionate about books and thinking creatively! The ending of each book is celebrated in class adding to their sense of accomplishment and bring to an end their journey with the characters they met along the way.

Supplies Required: listed books for the class, small mini post-its for page markers
Technology Requirements: Access to a laptop for writing assignments and checking our Google classroom.

The Storytellers Stage: Drama & Theater Class
Step into the spotlight! Students will build confidence, creativity, and communication skills through theater games, improvisation, character development, and fun acting exercises. Throughout the semester, they'll perform short skits and work together to rehearse and present a play for family and friends.
Students will develop:
Confidence & public speaking
Acting & stage presence
Teamwork & cooperation
Creativity & imagination
Communication & expressive speaking
A final stage performance for family & friends

*Note* This class relies heavily on memorization outside of class. Students must be able to practice lines leading up to a final performance. This requires support from parents to avoid stress for the student who is falling behind their performance group deadlines. This class comes with a lot of support but does require consistency. 🙂

The Golden State: Its People, Places, and Stories
The Golden State invites students to discover the people, places, and events that shaped California history from its earliest inhabitants to the present day. Through engaging stories, biographies, maps, hands-on activities, and thoughtful discussions, students will explore the state's rich history while gaining a deeper appreciation for the place they call home.

Supplies Needed: Soft 3 pronged folder

How to register:
Pay the $25 registration processing fee. Once payment is made, you'll be given a link to a google form to immediately select classes you are reserving. (Only one fee is required per family per calendar school year.)
Mixed Age Recommendations
Homeschooling classes offer the wonderful opportunity for mixed age learning. This year 6th graders are welcome in all classes offered. The literature class for the 6th-8th grade may offer more challenging books or themes depending on what is selected. Decide where to enroll them based on their maturity level and where they are most likely going to enjoy their peers.
Payment Options:
Out of pocket: Tuition can be paid out of pocket at the time of registration via credit card.
Approved Charter Schools: Sky Mountain, Cabrillo, Granite Mountain, Sage Oak
Payment Deadline:
Charter school purchase orders must be placed by 08/26. If purchase orders are not received by 09/01 your credit card on file will be charged the balance for the classes. It will be refunded when charter funds are received.
Refund policy:
Cancellations after 08/17 are not permitted. If cancellations are made after this date your card will be charged a $75 fee per class. A lot of work goes into preparing for your students. Please honor registration policies.
Breaks:
Students can use their breaks for eating, socializing, and stretching their legs outside.
